Tesla Fans Petition Biden Administration to Recognize Company's Contributions
Thousands of Tesla supporters have signed a petition demanding the Biden administration recognize Tesla's contribution to the progress of electric vehicle technology in the United States.
The petition starter and many of their commenters feel Tesla has been left out of conversations between the industry and the government, in favor of more established players like GM who have been much more hesitant to take up electric vehicle technology in the first place.
Both Tesla employees and fans alike see this snub as both an intentional dismissal of Tesla's contributions to EV uptake, but also a missed opportunity to make sure the country progresses toward an all-electric future as quickly as possible.
According to the petition and its thousands of supporters, Tesla deserves to be recognized for driving progress on EVs so far -- but more than anything, they need to be able to help the government lead the US into a more sustainable future. They can't do that if they are left out of industry conversations and strategy meetings like the one Biden held with United Auto Workers companies earlier this year.
LaLance Takata, from Los Angeles, CA explained that "As a Biden voter I'm really disappointed at POTUS' inability to recognize Tesla and Elon for their achievements and great American ingenuity! Too many lies about Bara that I'm really losing faith in this administration that I've supported."
Michael Mallette, a native of Waterford, MI added, "I was born and bred in Michigan and am a fan of the Big Three Automakers. However, seeing what the Biden administration is doing is making me think twice. Not inviting or even mentioning Tesla is a PURE political move and is NOT doing what is right for this country. It is political pandering like this that is destroying this country. This is what happens when you get 50 plus year politicians running America. Now, when I buy an EV one day, I will be looking at Tesla."
